Charco del Palo, on the north east coast of Canary island Lanzarote, is a year round destination. It is unique, being the world’s only non-private Naturist village! There are no entrance gates – just drive in as you would any other town or village – and strip off. Charco is situated right on the coast with varied accommodation to suit everyone, from luxurious private houses to studio apartments.  There are three restaurants and a commercial shopping centre.  Located far from the mass tourism resorts, there is no beach as such here, just a wilderness of craggy rocks punctuated by sand and cacti. There are three access points for swimming in the sea or sunbathing on the rocks including a natural basin that fills and empties according to the tide.

Casa Austria

Casa Austria consists of four apartments, one of which the owner lives in. Each apartment is suitable for two people and are all ground floor with one bedroom. The complex is located approximately 100 meters from the sea and has a shared pool. Each apartment has its own terrace with patio furniture and there is an additional communal terrace surrounding the pool area. Bedrooms have a large double bed and the living room has direct access onto the pool terrace. Each is equipped with TV, DVD player and a radio/CD/cassette player. The kitchen is openly-integrated into the living area and comes complete with ceramic hob, coffee machine, microwave and toaster. Bed linen changed weekly, towels twice weekly. Casa Austria also has a small sauna. Massages can be booked locally.

Finca Del Mar

Finca del Mar occupies a beautiful location right on the sea front. There are six apartments, each with one bedroom, a kitchen, bathroom, living room and a patio area with pergola.

All the apartments  share a heated, chlorine free pool and are surrounded by lush gardens and sunbeds. Each apartment sleeps two to three people. There is a living room with sofa bed, SAT-TV, radio, fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, dining table and a bedroom with double bed and shower.

Casa Luz

Casa Luz is a small complex of ground floor two-bedroom bungalows each sleeping up to four. There is a comfortable sofa and dining table in the living area plus an open plan kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. Each bungalow has a front and rear terrace and another terrace adjoins the shared raised pool. Bed linen and towels changed weekly.

Casa Blanca

Casa Blanca is a small well-kept two-storied apartment complex. Each apartment sleeps two people and has its own access to a southeast-facing terrace garden with patio furniture. The living room with dining area has a comfortable sofa and a TV. The kitchen is open plan to the living area well equipped for self-catering. Fridge with freezer compartment, electric hob and microwave. Bedrooms have a double bed and some have a larger bedroom with an extra sofa. Because of its location at the undeveloped rear of the resort, all bedrooms are very quiet and provide an additional exit to the pool area. The shared pool is heated year round and is chlorine free. Spacious sun terraces around the pool offer plenty of space for sunbathing.

Las Piteras

Sea Front

Simple but popular complex with an excellent location right in front of the tidal basin. There are four sea front ground floor apartments sleeping two each with fantastic sea views. Terraces are large and furnished with table, chairs and parasols. The apartments have a living room, with integrated kitchen, a bedroom with double bed and a bathroom with a large shower and wash basin. The style is more open plan – studios have a kitchen / living area fronting the sea. The bed is behind this area but not enclosed, and a large shower room at the rear. The pool is shared by guests of Las Piteras Courtyard, Casa Del Sol and Casa Finisterre as all form part of the same complex. There is communal BBQ and boules area.

Courtyard

Courtyard apartments at Las Piteras are ground floor with one bedroom sleeping two people. They are also located right on the seafront but are accessible via the inner courtyard of the building that faces the sea. Although they do not have a view of the sea from the living room, you can still see the view of the Atlantic Ocean from the courtyard, which is sheltered from the wind.

Casa Ronda

Casa Ronda is completely different from any other property within Charco del Palo. It consists of two high-end houses each with their own huge terrace. One is set above the other and the interiors are Spanish in style. Both houses are elevated at the rear of the village affording spectacular sea views. The two houses share a swimming pool between them measuring 8 x 4m.

Casa Ronda 1 is set above Casa Ronda 2 and has two floors. Casa Ronda 1 is the bigger of the two houses and has four bedrooms set over two floors making it suitable for eight people in total – though one of the bedrooms is a “transit” bedroom. All have a large bed and built in wardrobe. Bathrooms are generous in size and there is one on each floor. The rest of the house is very well equipped with leather sofa, dining room, satellite TV and stereo.

Casa Ronda 2 is all on one level inside – though still elevated – and the shared pool is on the same level. There are three bedrooms and between the two houses’ they have a huge garden with countless palms and huge cacti. Because there is a huge terrace surrounding each house, it is always possible to find a spot in the sun or shade and the views from the terraces are amazing.

Obona

Obona Type 1

This crescent of two storied, two bedroom apartments sleep four people and surround a sunbathing lawn and solar heated pool. There is a choice between 1st-floor with balcony or ground-floor with terrace, all are equipped with patio furniture. Each apartment has a living room with an open plan kitchenette, well equipped for self-catering, one bedroom with a double bed and one with twin beds, plus a bathroom. Customers staying here can use all the facilities of the larger Oböna complex that houses the type 5’s and 6’s. These are located on the sea front 200 yards away and have a heated swimming pool, sauna, café and basic gym.

Obona Type 5

These apartments sleep two and are located directly on the coast next to a solar heated pool with sun terrace and sun loungers. Living / dining room with satellite TV, kitchen with breakfast bar, double bedroom, shower room and small patio. Furnished terraces have sea-view. Located beside the café.

Obona Type 6

These apartments are in the same location as the type 5’s but they are larger. Located directly on the coast next to a solar heated pool with sun terrace and sun loungers.  Large living / dining room with kitchenette, satellite TV, two bedrooms with double beds, shower room, (two apartments have an additional guest WC). Large furnished terrace or balcony with sea view. Located beside the café.

Cinco Torres 2 & 3

Cinco Torres is a small complex of five units of which only two are available for holiday rental. The entrance is at ground level but because the houses are located on the hillside, the rear of the building has a balcony with staircase leading down to the communal garden. At entry level, each apartment has a roomy kitchen / living area with breakfast corner, small sofa, TV, stereo equipment plus bedroom and bathroom. A spiral staircase leads to the upper level where there is a comfortably furnished bedroom with TV. The garden is lush in trees and foliage and there is a large communal BBQ area for your use.

Local Area

Outside of the resort, there is plenty to keep you occupied. The nearby sleepy village of Haría comes alive on a Saturday when it hosts a local market offering craft items, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy produce and pastries. Timanfaya National Park, a must see for any visitor to Lanzarote, is home to the Fire Mountains – now dormant volcanoes, which once devastated the island. They feature a legacy of amazing lunar type terrain and numerous rare plant species. Cuevos de Los Verdes and Jameos del Agua – explore the caves and underground lava tunnel where a natural lake is home to a species of blind albino crabs indigenous to the island.
