Asos

Asos
The village of Asos was our favourite discovery on the island. We lunched by the harbour, and then climbed to the castle. Our guide book recommended that you go up the main track and enter the castle by the top gate: that was easy, you cannot go wrong there. Then they said you leave by the lower gate and follow the footpath back to Asos: but gave us no instructions on how to find the lower gate. Eventually we discovered it: it is behind the end of a series of low buildings which you will pass on your left, well before you get to the new development at the bottom of the castle area. Although the path back is good, and offers wonderful views over the sea to the South, you do need a good head for heights.
