Gran Canaria is the third biggest of the Canary Islands, and is the administrative capital of the islands. It has a circular form centred on the granite mass of La Cumbre (2,000m.). Because of the variety of scenery and flora it has been called a continent in miniature where you will find vineyards, banana trees, pine forests, coffee plantations, palm forests, almond trees, sugar cane and tomato crops. Las Palmas is the capital of the province and is a beautiful and historic city. The southern coast in dominated by huge rolling sand dunes, with the famed naturist beach at Maspalomas. There are also many other less well known beaches where naturism is possible.

From here one can walk along the beach some way to the Maspalomas naturist beach, approaching it from the further side. Built in the colonial style it is very impressive in every way. |
