On the southern shore of  Greece's largest island, Crete, there is a beautiful naturist hotel.  In a remote spot on the coast, a little way from Chora Stakion, you can enjoy a seaside naturist holiday, and all the comforts of this excellent hotel.  Chalfont Holidays can organise your flight to Heraklion, acting as retail agents for various ATOL holders, finding the most convenient flight to suit you from your most local airport.  There are also a limited number of flights to Chania, which is closer to the hotel, but usually only on Tuesdays from Gatwick and Manchester. At the airport you will pick up a hire car for the duration of your stay, giving you all the freedom you need to explore the treasures of this historic island.  At Hotel Vritomartis you can choose between a room in the hotel, or a bungalow in the hotel grounds, both with en-suite facilities.  Half-board, that is a sumptuous buffet breakfast and evening meal, is included in the price. The hotel uses a lot of locally produced food. Yoghurt and goats cheese is produced by the hotel owner's family. Some of the vegetables used are grown in the hotel grounds and in gardens in the local village.

Vritomartis Hotel took its name from an ancient Minoan goddess worshipped in the area. The hotel is located in the region of Sfakia on the South coast of Crete, near the village of Hora Sfakion (there seem to be alternative spellings of all the Crete place names!). This region is one of the most spectacular and unspoilt coastal area of Crete. The hotel is built in a traditional Greek style and situated on a promontory overlooking the South Cretan sea. The spectacular range of the White Mountains rises to a height of over 2000 metres to the North.

Hotel Vritomartis combines modern facilities with traditional Cretan style, comfort and simplicity and has excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. Hotel Vritomartis offers the best accommodation in the region, with plenty of peace and quiet, but also there are plenty of activities if you wish. Children are welcome and have the use of a children's pool and a small playground

Vritomartis is a licensed naturist resort and broadly follows the guidelines laid down by the International Naturist Federation: none of the indoors areas of the hotel are naturist whilst all the outside areas are naturist from sunrise to sunset (except the road to the beach so as not to offend local sensitivities). Naturism is required by the pool and on the beach.

There are many flights to Heraklion Airport in Crete and they are available from most airports in the UK. Heraklion airport is about 100 miles (2½ hours) drive from the hotel.

Chania Airport is much closer to the hotel, about 45 miles, but previously you could only fly there from Gatwick and Manchester on Tuesdays. But in 2012 Ryanair have begun flying to Chania from Stansted on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from East Midlands on Fridays, and from Leeds Bradford on Saturdays. Monarch are now flying on some Tuesdays from Birmingham. And easyJet are flying additionally on Wednesdays and Sundays from Gatwick.

For those who prefer transfers can be arranged from the airports, although, because of the distance, this is sometimes more expensive than hiring a car. Hotel Vritomartis is open from late April to late October.
